My Girls Trip Has Been Threatened

"NOAA has issued a hurricane watch for the area that includes First Landing State Park. The park is closing Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 4 p.m. Re-opening depends on the storm track and any sustained damages."

 The above message is not the sort of message one wants to get when they have been planning a get-a-way trip to said location for three months with their best buds! No, not at all!  There is only one other time that a trip of mine has been interrupted by a catastrophe!

In 2001 we were scheduled to go to Cozumel, Mexico in September.  On September 11th, 2001 some crazy ass changed America and my life.  It lead to my husband being deployed for two and half years in various places.  However, we are focusing on my trip so we aren't going to talk about how I would like to give extremist a taste of their own medicine because I am a forgiving person.....really....really I am! Anyway, the beginning of our trip to Cozumel turned into a total mess.  First of all, we closed our borders and they weren't letting anyone in or out of the country.  Our first flight was delayed for a day until they opened all the airports back up.  Finally we got onto a plane to Texas. This came with a slight glitch, the borders still weren't open.  Luckily we were able to get a hotel room.  My father-in-law rented a car and we took a field trip over to Galveston, Texas to the beach.  We spent the day playing in the ocean and then a day or two after that we were finally able to make it out of the country to our trip. 

Now all these years later, I just want to go on my girls' trip and a dang hurricane thinks it can blow right in and mess with me and my posse! OH HELLO KITTY NO!  We will not have it so Earl, blow right back to where you came from because you are no friend of ours! 

I am going to go now and finish getting my stuff together as well as my kids stuff ready for their weekend at their most fabulous Grandmas!  Sarah is so excited to spend the weekend with her Grandma that she woke up at 6am and asked if she was going there today??  Is today the day Mommy?  I fear she will not be able to focus on anything else today until she gets there.
